November 12 – 18, 2023, is Literacy Week in Savannah/Chatham County.  The week is sponsored by the Chatham Education Alliance and supported by the City of Savannah, Chatham County, and the Savannah Chatham County Board of Education.  Over 35 civic, community, religious and business organizations are co-sponsors.  Our goal is to build broad and deep public support for excellence in our schools.

Literacy Week will have two main events.  On Monday, November 13, Right to Read, a documentary produced by the NAACP, will be shown at the Lucas Theater.  Kareem Weaver, the main protagonist in the film, will do a Q&A after the screening.  On Tuesday, November 14, Mr. Weaver will be the speaker at a luncheon at Kehoe Iron Works, sponsored by the Southeast Georgia Leadership Conference.

We invite you to attend one or both of these events.
